9. The fall, 2006, Tarsem Singh

A beautifully made mode about interactive storytelling. Set in the 1920's Roy Walker, a stuntman, gets hurt while jumping of a bridge. In the hospital he meets 5 year old Alexandria and tries to manipilate her with a fantasy story to help him commit suicide. The story becomes a metaphor for his lack of will to live but Alexandria convinces him in the end to keep the characters and himself alive.
The acting by Catinca Untaru (Alexandria) is supurb and feels completely natural through out. The hospital settings and fantasy settings are amazing, partly influenced by Baraka. I love the beautiful wide cinematography that shows the scale of the landscape.
Great movie, a shame he didn't continue on this path and instead made Immortals and Mirror mirror next.
