Is there any time the 360 fanboy doesn't make the reference that having XBL makes their online better? This isn't a mention of the download and install speed as one who has owned both consoles will say 360 wins that all day long, although the PS3 download speed has increased by three times since the last update, so it might actually be equal in download speed now. Installs still take a bit. Online multiplayer. Apparently paying $35-$60 a year makes developer netcode better and increases your internet connection. Here's an example. I went to Youtube and did two searches. Mortal Kombat ranked PS3 and Mortal Kombat ranked 360. I chose the first ranked match to come up with the same player on both lists. According to the players commentary, the PS3 version has a lag spike at one point during the match while the 360 match has lag all throughout. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiOLweyAMeo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_DDn-GoYJo The reason why I chose Mortal Kombat is that we know it has poor netcode. So there was a chance that one of the games would have a worse connection. It just so happens that the same player plays the exact same game on two different consoles and the 360 version has worse netcode. To be fair if you get the next match down from the same user, from the commentary it seems there isn't lag from either match. That being said. The 360 having less lag in games is a myth and nothing more. XBL doesn't give you a better connection. It's all about the netcode. If you want even further proof. Google "Persona 4 Arena 360 issues." Before the game released, the developers stated the game has lag issues on the 360 when playing multiplayer. Afterwards, they released a patch to fix it and bring it on par with the PS3 version Someone also mentioned thatt 360 owners cheat less or team kill less because they pay for their services.. Check out this video. 62-1 on Call of Duty Black Ops 2. Paying to play certainly stops you from cheating. Definitely. |
Kupo, for starters I'm no fanboy. It's a mistake on your part to assume so simply because I chose to play devil's advocate and defend the 360 in this particular thread. For every negative point one can level towards the xbox, there's a negative than can pointed towards the PS3.
I understand it's human nature to pick sides and defend preference, but those who do so with regard to which console they play on only serve to limit their gaming experience. People like forevercloud3000, who irrationaly dog one company over another, sadly miss out on the benefits of enjoying all three consoles. Whatever his reasons may be, as well as those of people like him, that dogmatic adherence to one company over another precludes them from being gamers. They might argue that, but real gamers enjoy games.. not systems.
I can't play Halo on PS3, or Gears, or Trials, or Mario
I can't play Uncharted on Xbox, or LBP, or God of War... etc.....
I'm no fanboy and contrary to people like forevercloud, these consoles are here for me, not the other way around. It baffles me that people can't seem to figure that one out.
As far as the connection issue, you can post all the links you like, PSN is simply not as stable as XBL. While the idea of an internet connection is a generic issue between XBL and PSN, the infastructure they use to connect you is different. The net code for a game on XBL is different than that of it's PSN counterpart because of the way connections are handled. While they both predominantly use P2P, the servers used by XBL to get you on the network are more stable and incur less lag than PSN servers. End result.. a smoother, more secure connection... and yes, I pay a yearly subscription for that one, incredibly important, advantage.
Here... my buddy has both systems, but when we play COD we play it on Xbox Live. Same house, same game, same internet provider, different systems... we consistenly get more bars on xbox live than PSN and we've tested this at least a dozen times. The number of times we'd been dropped out of lobbies on PSN vs Live was such an issue, we simply stopped playing versus matches on third-party titles through his PS3.
There's really nothing more to argue there. If you have a friend with both systems, try it out with an identical game on both systems. See for yourself instead of posting subjective links from youtube.
