Does Sony Really Understand How Gamers Want to be "Social"?

This is bothering me... All of the PS4 "Social" features announced had to do with being by yourself in a room and "socializing" with your friends through the internet. Is that really what socializing has turned in to?

Are gamers like me, who still enjoy playing video games in a real social environment (in person), that much of a minority?
