Go and look at Sony or Microsofts first conference showing off their PS3 or 360.  Or gameplay of launch games.

everyone should have expected the games to be basically PS3 games.  In 7 years the difference between ps3 and ps4 will be noticable without a second glance, but right now it won't be.

Difference being, those conferences weren't hyped to the ends of the earth like this was. Those conferences happened when they should have which was at E3 when the hype is reasonable. There was no real reason for the hype today since nothing really crazy or mindblowing was shown or even hinted at. It was basically, here's the specs, here's a general idea of what it can do, here's some games that may come eventually and that's it.

That could have easily waited for E3 unless they're trying to push hard for a Q4 release then it's understandable. Otherwise, it really didn't make sense to use those reasources for a conference of this magnitude. A simple Nintendo Direct type conference could have done the same thing with way less of a budget.

Well I figured it was due to their financials.  I mean it was like a couple days after their financials came out that they announced this and been hyping it since.  As you could tell while watching this, this conference was only half for gamers, the other half was for investors and what not to watch and be like "hmm yea, that company is working on something that could make money"

I agree they shouldn't have hyped it as much, but I do like how they had a conference pre-E3.  imagine E3 comes along and you have to showcase a new system.  That takes practicall your entire showroom floor time.  They now have the more base stuff out of the way and for E3 they can just showcase more on games and th neat ways they utilized these features they described today.

we obviously didnt watch the same event especially since no console has ever been announced at e3 like you guys suggest should have happened
