The trouble with the score is the context , a low score isn't the problem ,the problem is we have a scoring system that has been around long enough for the majority of reviewers and readers to know that even though 5/10 should constitute a pass mark 7/10 has long been seen as the default pass mark , yes it skews the marks toward the top half of the scoring range and makes the bottom half pretty redundant but that is what's occurred over time , so expectation is that most games will be marked against that backdrop and fall somewhere in that range with 5/10 being indicative enough of a games failings and 10/10 being the pinnacle so when we see a 3/10 score given without any real game crippling faults one would expect with such a score it smacks of some one forgetting that even though the reviews subjective the scoring should have some uniformity .
