This is going to be a horrible year again for video game hardware in the US.

I think it's possible only 14-17m systems will sell in the US this year (down from 35m in 2008-2009 - lowest year since at least 2001).

Is it really difficult to imagine -

X360 - 3.5m

3DS - 3.5m

PS3 - 2.5m

Wii U - 2m

Vita - 1.5m

Wii - 1.0m

PS4 - 1.0m

X720 - 1.0m

DS - 0.5m

I don't man. There are so many variables that we just don't know as of yet. Nintendo is the hardest to predict as we know next to nothing to what their schedule is going to look like. Furthermore, is Nintendo going to be the cheapest option once the new systems roll in? Will Nintendo try to counter the releases of Xbox and PS4 by having Zelda release in October, then Mario Kart in November, and 3D Mario in December? It's hard because I'm seeing the whole 3DS scenario repeating itself for the Wii U except that instead of having a price cut, it's going to be a bundle at 349.99$ with Mario Kart  + NintendoLand.
