WiiU is not a console that brings groundbreaking new experiences to the table, its too expensive, its the most expensive console Nintendo ever launched, couple that with Nintendo's trouble in making the transition to the HD era and you have the recipe of a failure.
Nintendo really overestimated their new console, they thought they'd capture the casual market again, but it failed. All it has going for it is "the new way of gaming", thats how it is marketed and its not working. Back in 2010 when tablets were uncommon, it would've been big, but today we have $199 Nexus 7s etc.
