Industry 'Not Sustainable' For Xbox 720 & PS4

eh.. I'd have to say it will happen but not in the same manner as SEGA.

Nintendo will continue due to its lower cost platform and highly successful IPs. WiiU will not perform 100m like Wii, but it will be financially successful before the year is out.

Sony will drop from the dedicated handheld market and instead push is phone/tablet playstation experience (digitally only) I think... but their home console strategy with the value driven PSN+ is a good sell. So long as their consoles are not super expensive like the PS3 was, they will continue to be long-term profitable far sooner than PS3 was.

MS will drop out of dedicated consoles all together and I think that will be apparent with the next Xbox. I've been saying this is the path for them all since early 2012, but I was only certain about MS as they were the only one with a full OS to begin with. Their next device will be a full media device that can also play games. It will be that end goal they always wanted with a real device running Windows connected to the TV as the central part of the family entertainment and other needs. This is the reason they entered the gaming market and this is the realization of that long-term goal.

This doesn't mean its gaming capabilities will be gimped, just that it isn't the sole or primary focus anymore. The mass consumer wants this device, but not in the uber gimped and hard to use SmartTVs/DVD/etc. Add the current 360 usage of all tablets/phones for control and a full / real smart/win8 device on your TV and that's a nearly perfect solution. My only wish is that Nintendo or Sony did similar but with Android as it would have been the most logical choice. After all, I'm certain Apple will do it this year along with Google in some sort of Nexus device.... but both won't have the first party content of the others.
