There is no excess of games with the same gameplay; only 2 2D Marios per generation and only one on each platform, for example. This is a hell lot better than, say, Sony IPs.

Every God of War is the same(Very little changes), for example. Every Call of Duty is the same(Very little changes), for example. The difference is that if you jump on a Goomba's head a million times, in those games you would be jumping two million times because new games on those series release earlier than new games in the Mario series. Actually, Nintendo doesn't expect you to keep paying $60, because Mario games cost $50 for Wii and Wii U and $40 for 3DS.
