Capcom has a deal with Nintendo, but I won't lie - it's a big blow and a reason why I've decided to boycott Capcom games. I'm only going to buy the games they release on Vita from now on. But the thing is, RE:R would easily sell better LT on Vita than on 3DS. Yet they chose to ignore it. The situation Wii U is in is quite different, cause this console just doesn't grant you sales of any level, or you could even say - it grants you the game won't sell.
Wii U is not that close to Vita as you say it is. It has barely passed 60% of what Vita has sold thus far, the difference is still over 1.5 million consoles (that's quite a lot if we're talking about small numbers like 4 vs. 2.5 mil) and right now the Wii U, which is still in it's launch window, is gaining a mindblowing 8-10 k per week. Even more importantly, the gap in the software sales is even wider than in hardware sales, and the sales of third party games is abyssmal on Wii U. If you think that it makes no sense to port games to Vita, don't forget that it makes 3-4 times less sense to port games to Wii U. Numbers don't lie. And Sony is not the only company making ports to Vita, I have no idea why you would think so. Vita is slowly starting to receive exclusive 3rd party games in Japan, let alone ports! And I know that Wii U will get ahead of Vita once 1st party games get released and that its fate is much safer and clearer than the fate of Vita, but as it stands now and most probably will till the end of the year, Vita is noticeably ahead and is a much more viable platform for 3rd parties.
I think that Nintendo fanboys over here just can't get their heads over the fact, that when EA releases its games on Wii U, it's risking its own money. They have to put their real, hard-earned cash into these ports and in the current economy every company thinks 10 times before it spends money on something that grants very slim chances of ever showing returns. Releasing games on Wii U right now just isn't profitable, they would be wasting money and in the current financial situation, when so many studios go bust nearly every day, they couldn't care less about "creating communities for their games" on such risky platforms like Wii U, when they already have huge communities on Sony and MS platforms. It's the time when responsible managers play it safe and that's what they seem to be doing. Nintendo is the victim here, but that's just life. To me it's simple - if they want 3rd party games on their console, they have to grant the developers that they will get a certain profit. How they do it is up to Nintendo.
I bet you wouldn't be so eager to throw your own money at making a AAA game that would most probably end up selling 100-160k or something like that. I know I wouldn't.
Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!
