Nintendo has something that people seem to want, and Sony doesn't: lots of great games. Not so long ago people said that 3DS wasn't more than a PSP with a gimmick, and look at the sales.

Unlike fans on sites like this, Sony don't live in a vaccuum. If you are going to say 'look where 3DS is now', then you also have to have the same view for the Vita. People who constantly go on about Sony dropping are just wishful thinkers. Both handhelds can do well and service their fanbase. Tech wise, the Vita is more than a generation ahead of the 3DS and it will have a ten year lifecycle like every other Sony games device. I remember articles about the PSP being dead at 20 million, then 45 million, then 60 million, and now when it's 0ver 70 million. Anyone who considers it a failure just because it doesn't equal Nintendos numbers is thinking incorrectly.

PSP or 3DS weren't ever in the situation Vita is. Sony is now launching PS4, which console do you think most first party teams are going to be developing for? You need a continuous stream of good games to make a platform viable, and Sony isn't doing so. PSP had games in Japan, piracy/homebrew all over the world, that helped PSP sales a lot (and that killed the 3rd party games sales outside Japan)

Vita isn't occupying anything, whatever you say, and you can be a happy user but that doesn't mean that other customers will like the same things as you.
