A question: When Nintendo want to release a new handheld, what space will they occupy? I think you'll find the Vita already occupies that space.

Vita does not occupy even retailer shelf space. I'm sure Nintendo won't have problems selling their next gen handheld.

I'm not suggesting Sony will dominate Nintendo in the next handheld race, what I'm asking is where do Nintendo go next. The obvious space they'd want to occupy would be better graphics, two analogue sticks, better online features and console integration -- the space that Vita already occupies. Sony were clever when they released the MOVE because they occupied the space that Nintendo would have naturally occupied, which, I believe is why they opted for the new space they've created. Vita may not be selling well, but if you see it as a place holder for that space, awaiting connectivity with the PS4, you could argue that Sony have deliberately released the Vita 'early' in order to have it in place for when the PS4 releases.

'Long gone'? Not a chance.

Nintendo has something that people seem to want, and Sony doesn't: lots of great games. Not so long ago people said that 3DS wasn't more than a PSP with a gimmick, and look at the sales.

PS: If you think Nintendo has developed the WiiU gamepad because Sony has move, then you don't know the development cycles of the console manufacturers. Apple has much more to do with WiiU gamepad than Sony.
