I think I can help figure out the GPU:

The GameCube was made on pre-install tech to do Stereoscopic 3D and so is the Wii U.

So maybe there are parts of both the GameCube & Wii U GPUs that make them do stereoscopic gaming more better or something, for 3D gaming (stereoscopic gaming).
