There´s nothing surprising here, it´s been that way ever since the N64.The Wii U, just like the N64, GC and Wii, will live on Nintendo games (and a handful of 3rd party games).

Knowing what to expect, I´m sure I´ll be happy with the system when I get it later this year..problem is, every time Nintendo launches a new home console, some Nintendo fans always seem to have some mid to high expectations that this time it´ll be different, that they´ll finally get great 3rd party support back, just like the NES/SNES days.

Personally, I have no illusions, I´m not emotionally and financially vested in the system so it´s not a big deal..though I do understand people who are pissed at the situation, be it because they don´t want to own more than one system or for some other reasons, yeah I understand, but sadly the truth of situation is Nintendo will never get great 3rd party support as long as Sony and MS are around, and even if they were to exit the videogame business, who´d guarantee those 3rd parties would embrace Nintendo?..maybe/probably they´d flock to whatever else is in the market at the time.

So, expectations...if one expects nothing from 3rd parties on Nintendo home consoles, then odds are he/she will be happy with the system, unless even Nintendo´s own games disappoint, which was my case concerning the GameCube, the only Nintendo games I enjoyed for the system were SSBM, Metroid Prime and Wind Waker, and that makes it the 'worst' Nintendo system I´ve ever owned. With the Wii it was different, I really enjoyed most of the 1st party games, and now I can only hope they deliver with their games for the Wii U.
