When I started on Xbox Live I was terrified of the ban hammer.  I had heard rumors, and was hesitant to do or say anything on it, but it really isn't that hard. So just for kicks I have been reading through 'Why was I banned?' http://whywasibanned.com/

While there are several people I feel genuinely bad for - ones who say something on the internet, or their fried did and showed them how to turn their avatar green, or a sibling did something wrong, it seems that most of them:

1.  It is the first time in their life they have even not been able to talk themselves out of being caught.  The mere shock that someone had the nerve to call them on their behavior is more than they can handle.

2.  They really have a hard time with disciplinary action - even with they deserve it.  Possibly, for many as it is their first time they have actually had to accept the consequences of their behavior.  (I know I cheated on 5 of my games, but why did you take my gamer score from all of them?)

3.  Often deserved to be kicked off as they are degrading the system: either with behavior, cheating, spamming or completely inappropriate language.  People just want to play/have a good time and not be verbally abused or threatened.

4.  It keeps the service better for everyone.  And some learn at a young age, they will lose things if they misbehave – it might even make them better adult citizens.  Everyone has to learn it sometime.

Now I think they might want to add more options – have a kids section, have an adult section, a 'Thick skinned' section - where you can call anyone anything, things like that.

I did enjoy World of Warcraft, but I don't think I ever went more than a few minutes without getting some fake scam selling gold, or whatnot.  It really degraded they game experience. I’ve also seen so many messenger services, ICQ, AOL, etc. all ruined by fake dating girl scams, etc.  Having these people removed from Xbox Live, does make the system nicer.

Have you been banned/suspended?  Did you deserve it?  What were the consequences?

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.
