Interesting. Though the USB adapter has a few advantages over the VGA adapter: you don't have to unplug your monitor from your PC, you can use it with other PCs (and with other A/V and S-Video devices), and it also lets you do audio and video capture. The lack of direct VGA support is a small price to pay, seeing as the Wii only looks marginally better in that than it does in S-Video.
