they expanded the audience. Look at Sony's most popular IPs. LBP, Uncharted, Journey, Heavy Rain, Infamous, Crash, Heavenly Sword, Parappa, Medieval, God of War, GT, Spyro, Ratchet, Jak, Resistance, Killzone. Only the last 2 are the bloody shooter type (and R3 had some really creative weaponry). Sony makes new IPs every gen and they have great variety. Not to mention DOOM and Quake were the real shooters early on and they were on PC so I don't see how Sony can be blamed for that crowd considering they had no big exclusive shooters until PS3.
