"Fluke" is a bad word. Perhaps anomaly or aberration would be better. I think Nintendo's baseline for home consoles under their current model is closer to the GameCube than the Wii. Their focus leaves out many other genres of gaming.
Both the PSP and the Vita are probably aberrations at this point, with the baseline possibly being in between. I think the Vita will improve significantly in Japan eventually but not much elsewhere.
