Let me help... from the annual accounts. A legal document to shareholders where they report actual numbers.

Sales decreased 15.1% year-on-year (an 18% decrease on a constant currency basis) to 268.5 billion yen (3,086 million U.S. dollars). Overall segment sales decreased significantly due to lower sales of hardware and software of the PlayStation®3 (“PS3”) and PSP® (PlayStation Portable) (“PSP”), partially offset by the sales of the PlayStation®Vita introduced in December 2011.

So..... lower year on year sales of HARDWARE and software of the PS3.

Same quarter last year they shipped 6.5m. So all we know for sure is it is less than 6.5m for the last quarter.

That's not a guess. That's a fact.

So then we look at September and a realistic expectation would be 68m as shown in my thread on shipped v sold. For it to be 69m would have meant way too much in supply.

So I'd say max of 6m for PS3 plus 68 gives us 74. That's as good a guess as you have made here... So can you change your title please. Thanks.

Thanks for the obvious, everybody figured out hardware was down YoY. Do you know by how much? No, you're also guessing. We know PS2+3 shipped 6.8m and we know PS2 can't have shipped 0.9m it did last year, following the downwards trend of ps2 sales its down to 0.6-0.8m. That leaves PS3 with the rest of 6m shipped for this q. Thats down YoY for PS3 aswel. If you use the ratio of PS2 and PS3 shipments of FY2011 it makes perfect sense. On nov 4 2012 Sony reports 70m ps3s shipped. October is NOT a big holidays month, I say max 1.2m have been shipped during october(ps3 at +-69m on sept 31), +-2m in november and +-3m for the biggest month of the year.

If it was 68m at the end of september, that would mean october was as big or bigger than nov/dec in shipments or you have serious expectations of the ps2.
