This is a terrible idea... I live in Washington where Minimum wage is over $9 and hour. It has been HORRIBLE for business growth here. Lots of businesses have decided to relocate because of the excessive wage. Not only that but things in general are a bit more expensive to reflect the increased labor costs required by the high minimum wages.

Personally I think a higher minimum wage is a bad business idea in general. While I can see how having a higher minimum wage is attractive for those at the low end of the Totem Pole it surely is not for businesses looking to grow and succeed nor is it good for the consumers who are already making above minimum as it makes their costs go up. For those who want more money I suggest you keep looking for a different Job that doesn't pay minimum wage. I know they may be difficult to come by but they do exist especially for people that truly want them and have the proper education and experience.

Too often I go to a Fast food restaurant or something and I see people in their 40s or 50s who are simply just cashiers. They have NO secondary education nor do they have any aptitude or real desire to move up or do something more with their life. The people who have no self motivation are the ones complaining that minimum wages are too low.

You dont see hardly anybody who is not making minimum wage complaining about it. Why? Because these people saddled up and demonstrated to their employers that they are WORTH more than minimum wage. The World will pay you what your worth. To demand anything more you must first improve your worth.

Long Live SHIO!
