Well i guess it's official, ps4 will definitely be Sonys last console (along with the Vita as their last handheld). It will sell miserably at that price point. It's been a good run, but Sony for the loss!

This is a very good price point. You have no idea what you're talking about.

For fans, sure. For the normal consumer...not so much.

PS4 is designed to peak in its 4-5th year on the market. A $400 launch price is perfectly acceptable, even to the "normal" consumer.
Keep in mind people are buying $500-$600 iPads every year. Keep in mind the $600 PS3 actually ended up being competitive despite the huge losses and much higher price point. I expect the next XBox to have the same price point so I don't see price being a problem this gen especially seeing as how the "affordable" Wii U is selling horribly. It's mostly about the games.

Compering tablets to consoles doesn't make much sense because tablets give the consumer much more value than a gaming console. You can make calls (extremely important in case of an emergency), check your email on the go, have your paper work in it (in case you have a job), watch movies and TV series, connect to the internet, etc.

In todays world having a tablet is a neccesity (for the most part), gaming consoles are not, they are just a hobby, which many people prefer to spend on other things.

I agree that what will sell the console are the games, all the power or entertainment medias won't be a selling point for most people (unless you have something similar to motion controls like the Wii).

No, a tablet is absolutely not a necessity. It is an entertainment device, a play thing. All those things you mentioned, a console woudl be able to do. Email, TV, Movies, Internet, Calls(through Skype or something)..etc. A fun fact: most tablets are used at home and are not connected to 3G/4G as most people reserve that for their phones.

Nobody emails on their console.  Nobody will EVER email on their console, that's stupidly absurd when it can be done 100x easier on a tablet and even more so on a real computer.

Also, tablets are getting big in enterprise, lots of IT departments are pretty much doing BYOD or issuing company tablets.
