how is heavy rain considered high budget? lets see, new engine that produced great quality graphics. new in innovaitve technique's developed to envoke emotions through players. great voice acting with deep well developed characters. deep well developed story and strong story telling that became a benchmark for the industry. more than 20 ending based on the players actions. all that doesnt come cheap. it takes time to develop a game with that quality. its not just about the length of the game. if it were halo4 isnt big budget because its story mode finishes in 5~6 hours

 

and its not hate, its just pointing out facts. and its not a thread about MS, but when you point out MS in your OP, expect them to be brought up, specially since you used MS to compare them to sony, so its only logical that other posters do the same

What's the budget for Heavy Rain? It did not feel Big Budget to me, it felt no different then Alan Wake (which had a longer development cycle, and I souldn't be surprised if it had higher development costs). The game was very short, buggy, and most of the game was a real time event (which isn't hard to make).

Halo is short, but deep. Online is extensively fleshed out and Halo 4 pushes the 360 beyond what I thought 360 was capable of.

It's not pointing out facts, in your list of Big Budget games you included Resistance....Why not include PGR for 360 then? LOL Seriously, from what I know the only big budget games for HD consoles this gen are 3 Halo's, 3 Gears (Not Judgement), 3 Forza's (Not Horizon), GT5, Killzone 2, GoY3/Asc, and Uncharted 2 & 3. I personally didn't get the feel anything else was big budget.

Now maybe a game like White Knight Chronicles turns out to have cost a lot to develop. I didn't get that impression playing the game. I also changed my post to Big Budget Blockbuster titles. Halo/Gears/Forza/GT/Uncharted/GoW/Killzone 2 are genre defining. Game features introduced/Brought to light in the Gears of War series have been immitated by countless games (Cover, Hoard, Online Medals, etc). These games are also known about by the casual audience.

If I talked to my girlfriend about Heavy Rain, she wouldn't know what the heck I was talking about. However mention Uncharted, Halo, Forza, she knows what I'm talking about.


Anyway....F***, this isn't a debate, this thread isn't for people to stand up for their favorite consoles and attempt to omit them of any faults, this is all opinion. Geez.

Updated to here, please vote on Nintendo/Microsoft Threads to show me that people actually play games other then those on PS3.
