To the rest of what you have to say. Reason why DmC supporters say its about the hair cos it pretty much is. What else have they got to complain about? the game is great, its not as easy as they tried to say it was. It has a great main character (even if his not the dante they remember). He is in no way emo as if you think his emo you must think the old dante is super emo. and the combat is great with so many different combos and moves you can use. And also the Demo was crap. That answer it for you?. |
The reason why DmC supporters say its about the hair is to try and marginalize the other groups argument. Same deal with how sites tried to paint people unsatisfied with Mass Effect 3 as just wanting a happy ending, they are just attacking a straw man. The main complaint boils down to the fact that it was being made by Ninja Theory. A studio with three bad-mediocre games under their belt, and a portfolio that emphasized presentation over gameplay. The exact opposite of what most fans loved the Devil May Cry series for. This first made itself manifest when it was announced the game would be 30 fps. That is sacraficing gameplay for graphical presentation. It only got worse with ridiculous quotes like the "feel of 60 fps" and claiming it was "Shakespearean".
Now with that said, people were certainly unhappy about the new look and personality of Dante, but it was far from the only complaint. Even that extended beyond the color of his hair as you so often try to characterize it.

Whatever about their last 2 games no one can deny this game is great. Its got great reviews from every online review site and magazine, and everyone who has played it has said its great (Except for some DMC fans who a bitter cos of the hair). But hey its nice to know you think a company that put so much hard work into a game should pretty much crash and burn. |
It's only 4 points above Enslaved which was awful. Reviews mean very little, especially now when most "journalists" seem to be little more than corporate cheerleaders.
Speaking of enslaved, I happened across a post of mine from a couple years ago
"EDIT: The last poster reminded me that Ninja Theory is doing the DMC reboot. I had only played the demo for Heavenly Sword, which wasn't too bad. Now that I've played Enslaved I can see why people are so pissed. Now granted Enslaved was not meant to be DMC like combat, but it is pretty much the polar opposite of DMC 1/3. Slow, boring, and shallow combat with a bad framerate does not give a lot of hope for the new Devil May Cry."
Nothing about hair there.
