It's always relevant. That's like saying PS2's sales after November 11, 2006 were irrelevant. Unlike personal feelings, business doesn't work like that.

They were irrelevant as Gamecube and Xbox were done. But more importantly the gamers focused on the newer machines as only casuals got the PS2 from that point onward.

You can disagree, but as this has been said numerous times, winning while the 3 consoles are "in the spotlight" is important.

I'm being realistic. You are talking out of personal feelings. Key difference.

No matter how many times you type the word "irrelevant", when the PS3 passes the 360, it will be anything but that. Besides, the fact that you perpetuate the argument for comfort provides one of the best examples.

Ive been saying this argument since 2009. It aint a sudden response to sales trends. Nintendo/MS fans won't care. Only internet Sony fans will care, and thats a vast minority of real world PS3 gamers. Soooo in a "irrelevant" (:P) sense, yes it does matter. To me, if you can't pass within the window of being the most current console, then your celebrating lowering the bar.

I'm going to make a prediction.  You will be praising the crap out of the 360 if it passes the Wii in the US and/or UK, without a single peep of it being irrelevent, even though if it happens it will be about a year or more after the Wii U released.  Heck, it may happen after the NeXbox launches.

Of course, you're ignoring a big factor.  Do you think the majority of the internet is going to go nuts when VGC numbers show the PS3 has passed the 360? Nope.  It'll go nuts after Sony's shipments show that they have outshipped the 360, which is going to happen before it shows in VGC numbers, and may happen before November.  Of course, an even bigger factor is that, in the end, this gen will only be remembered by the masses by its final shipment numbers.  So, no matter how many MS fans go on and on about it being irrelevent, they will mostly be ignored.

I said it in another thread, but when 360 passes Wii in certain areas, its "oh thats nice", but nothing more. Merely acknowledging it as it didnt overtake Wii outright. I offcourse cant speak for other 360 fans.
