Maybe it's something to do with the American culture and not just the guns.

well it does, as well as geographical locations, healthcare system (How does Canada's Healthcare system help mental health for example? idk). Again I'm not familar with canada. But the US/Mexico Border has all kinds of issues with violence. Where I'm sure the U.S. canada border is not near the issue.

I'm essentially neutral on the argument (and I don't think anyone else on the planet is haha).

The Mexico US border is a literal war zone, one that could be ended by legalizing & regulating the thing they fight over, control of the drug trade.  But that's a different topic for a different day.

Maybe Canada is better at treating mental health, maybe that's something the USA should work on rather then treating one symptom, gun violence.  Another number that would be interesting to look at is the number of Americans who kill by gun who had a diagnosable pre existing mental health dissorder.

EDIT: You updated your post.  I agree an AK vs a Predator Drone isn't a fair fight, but if the shit hits the fan it's atleast something to make them think twice.
