They won't be that much more expensive if at all without a super expensive drive this time (unless they try to make a super expensive controller). They won't be launching a year later (announcing first most likely). So why is it a lock for MS to own US and questionable for Sony to hold Europe? |
Paranoid much?
First of all... the 360 had a $300 price advantage. That only happened because Sony thought the Playstation brand was stronger than it actually was.
Second, lets stop babbling about this year lead. If Sony released a $300 - $400 console, the PS3 would have easily passed the 360. The only reason PS3 has been able to close the sales gap is because Sony sacrificed billions of dollars so people would actually buy their hardware.
Third, Sony didn't have to push Bluray. That was just a bad decision that never proved to be essential this gen. They bet on Bluray, it cost them billions of dollars and allowed their competition to thrive. Great job Sony!
The part I bolded, I don't know who this "everyone" is, but I'm not seeing people making those claims. No region is a lock for MS. Sony spent billions on damage control and they still have a chance to be a sales leader in the west. They just don't have any chance of dominating the west like they did with PS1 and PS2.
