Kratos had a justifiable reason to want to kill Zeus but GOS fills in the games as to what caused the gods to attempt to assassinate him, thus causing him to go for retribution in two.

Of course Ghost of Sparta does, that's what generally happens when you add a prequel to a story. Adding prequels to a story without planning also causes stuff to not make sense and retcons (Not saying this is the case with Ghost of Sparta). Ultimately to say you have to play Ghost of Sparta first after going from God of War is a bit silly as it was explained right off the bat. Like what I'm trying to say is if Ghost of Sparta didn't exist the story would play out the same and it'd make just as much sense.

GOW 2 had plot holes at the beginning of the game and Kratos was still a one dimensional character. They never explained why Kratos was angry at the beginning of two nor why he was overthrown, he was just seen as a "threat" by his father Zeus. Again, plot hole and no identifiable motivations until the assassination attempt. It's a half assed attempt even though GOW 2 was one of my favorites. If GOS didn't exist some needed answers wouldn't have been given. I am glad they added it because it pissed me off to no end and actually affected my opinion of Kratos, but now after getting the Saga Kratos is like Mario in my eyes for Sony LOL.

What plothole? He was pissed off the god's didn't keep their promise and forced him to be the god of war, so he started making wars. What's there not to understand? He was overthrown for two reasons: 1) he was causing too many wars for no reason. 2) Zeus was afraid Kratos would kill him (This was explained by Gaia), so Zeus struck first. There's no plothole here. Kratos isn't a 1 dimensional character, Jaffe did a very good job with Kratos' story in the first game, which sets up his pissed off attitude in the second game.
