But Ghost of Sparta released way after God of War 2! That's like saying don't watch Star Wars until you watch the three prequels. |
The prequel was desperately patching gaping holes in the storyline and character development of part two. Its not like Star Wars, because it exists between the time of part one and two. It starts after he became God of War, but fills in the gaps to the questionable nature of the rage of Kratos which before then had no reason for even happening. GOW 2 never explained why Kratos became such a threat to Zeus after taking his step brother Ares place as God of War and was quickly overthrown. Before GOS it was just pointless god killing, and now we know why. Learning about Kratos is a very good reason to play the prequels because as a character with only the GOW trilogy he was a one dimensional character that had zero likeable nature. Over the course of this gen, the lore of Kratos has grown and he's no longer one dimensional.
