Lol,  and 9 is the new 8.  You gotta admit Its crazy how inflated game scores are.  I wish games were given 0 to 4 stars like how movies are rated.

I used to think that a 10 score system with decimals would provide more nuance to reviews and review scores. Needless to say, I was dead (pun intended) wrong. The good 'ole six sided dice works better in my opinion since it forces reviewers to be more consistent and stop adding or substracting decimals or whole points on the basis of minor things. In short, another system would force a more thought through review.

I honestly think not giving scores at all would be great.  Like an IGN "final score" would just consist of the Pros and Cons without a number.

But then fanboys wouldn't have numbers to swing around at each other, and really isn't that what reviews are all about?

A radical move for sure, that would also eliminate purchased score from companies and publihsers. I'd support it for sure!

A german online videogames magazine tried that ONCE. They got flamed to death by the same users who'd always rant about just how much their scores suck. You can't imagine how fast they went back to giving scores. Gamers love to rant :D
