Is releasing a $400 plus console a bad Idea?

400 (AUD) is about my limit for a console i.e. the price of the Wii U in Australia.

Any console that is $400 in the US is likely to be pushing $500 in Australia and is therefore not going to be purchased until the price comes down somewhat.
