400$ or 400€(screw 1:1 translations for us euros) are probably the smallest number you can get if you want good hardware that isn't outdated 2 weeks after release.
600 would give you the option what the PS3 is doing now > Still getting pushed
400 will give them good sales and both(Sony and M$) have seen what a high price can/could do to them.
So they won't be as powerful as they can be but they are still a huge leap with a reasonable price.
And people who have an addiction will buy the stuff.400 isn't that much if you have a decent job.
There are even people who will buy the new Nvidia card for 900$ just for the sake of having it.
