Familiars use Stardrops, Sundrops, Moondrops and Planetdrops (and their Jumbo versions) to Metamorphosize from one form to a "better" form. Each familiar goes through its base form, second form, and then must decide on one of two final (or third) forms (denoted by the 
and 
since the evolution tree splits in that fashion).
Examine each of the forms' new resistances and alignments, as they will radically change the role of a familiar in battle. A melee heavy familiar can metamorphosize and become a back-up familiar and vice-versa. All of the following creatures may be found in the game's Wizard's Compendium (check your sub-screen).
