People make the mistake of thinking that Kinect was/is competing directly with the Wii. There is some overlap but largely a different market. Wii's success wasn't just "casuals," but also current Nintendo fans, old Nintendo fans that parted ways with them during the N64/Gamecube era, and old school/lapsed gamers in general.
