I think the theory that people have is that they provide late (ME3, NFS) and gimped (Madden) games to create a set of sales data that they can show to investors to avoid any legal action by not supporting a console and potentialy loosing revenue.
Why would they want to not support a platform that could provide revenue?
1-A grudge against Nintendo for not going alone with Origin
2-To streamline the development process of current gen & next gen games by sticking to the market leaders, which could save more money then it could potentially bring in.
