The touchpad on the front sounds very useful in bridging the gap between game controller and computer. Web browsing, store browsing, and OS possibilities are quite expanding just from that. It's no mouse, but people are quite capable with a laptop track pad.
This also bodes well for the Vita as its touch screen and full control options make it a prime candidate as a optional controller. Since I have one and so does my wife we technically have 2 PS4 controllers already :).
I wonder how creative they will be with touch on the controller and if that user account tying to the controller is true.
Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(
