Apple's misinterpreted market performance has nothing to do with why Nintendo shouldn't move their games to iOS or any other platform.
Integrated hardware/software development is Nintendo's key advantage. For Nintendo to go third party developer would be like Apple deciding to turn the Mac line into just another Windows PC OEM. Goodbye competitive differentiator and hello commoditization.
