This combined with them missing the forecast pretty much sums up the bad feeling. Plus it's not really possible to use 360 and PS3 launch sales as justification.
360 - Went into the generation with lowest market share, Microsoft (as a games company) was less established
PS3 - Launched side by side with the Wii
The Wii U has had no other competition in this generation yet, and comes from the leader of the previous generation. Those are massive advantages compared to the 360 and PS3. Even so, it is way too early to know how the Wii U will hold up. Maybe when the other consoles have been out for a couple of months we'll be able to judge. As for Nintendo financially, they are obviously on pretty solid ground so that's no worry.
