I'm uncertain how you arrive at this logic. Sure, everyone's talking about PS4 today, but that's because it's just been announced. Come next week it'll have gone quiet again until the announcement, with Fire Emblem and DQVII taking the limelight in the interim.
Come the announcement, two things can happen. It can be a disappointing event (most likely as everyone's expectations are very high) with very little shown and not much detail to go on. Or, it can blow everyone away and be the buzz word for a month or so. Then the 720 will be shown, and that will be the buzz. Then Pikmin 3 and TLOU releases and that will be the in-thing.
Buzz cycles round. If you think that every single moment from now until the end of the system's life will be PS4 news everywhere, then you're wrong. I doubt it will have any negative effect, because we still don't know anything about it. This is unlikely to change that much in the coming weeks and months.
