Isn't he just stating what is happening? It started with the Xbox being more 'off the shelf' PC components. Now all the consoles are going that way.

Graphic Processors are so complected and powerful now, it doesn't make since for a company to develop their own, when they can go to expert company that specializes and get one of theirs. And it's usually cheaper, more efficient and more powerful. It's like airplanes, hardly anyone builds their own anymore from a kit.

I think their may still consoles - because the providers can security, compatibility, efficiency and control. But yes, they will be using 'off the shelf' type parts.



 

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.
