EA on Wii U: "What we describe as "Gen 4" is yet to come."

The combination of these two statements confuses me. They describe the Wii U as a next gen console (otherwise they couldn't say "other next gen consoles", but say gen 4 is yet to come. Dunno what this means.

the 'gen4' bit is an internal definition they are using. I saw several users saying it's most likely defined by the 3d engines by DICE or something. Bascially they are saying wiiu doesn't meet that requirement but they also give it a nod by saying it is infact next gen system. (the latter is most probably based on the time of release than anything else)

EA may be saying that (and I kind of think EA is ridiculous for all the weird decisions they make), but you could be jumping the gun by saying the Wii U doesn't meet the requirement.
