If I were Sony, I'd ride out the end of the fiscal year (March) and call it a write off. Japan is getting some good games in March anyway. Then cut the price with a big game - for example, western release of Soul Sacrifice OR Killzone Mercenary if it's ready in time, by April/May. Start the new FY off with a bang.
Problem is there's not much coming in April/May in Japan that we know of that would go well with a price cut. All the big stuff is in March. They kind of need it to coincide with Soul Sacrifice/Tales of Hearts, but I don't see that happening.
