On the week ending February 9th, 2008, for no particular reason the Wii outsold the DS worldwide.
On the week ending September 22nd, 2007 (PSP redesign + Crisis Core in Japan), the PSP outsold the DS worldwide.
On the week ending March 24th, 2007 (PS3 European launch), the PS3 outsold the DS worldwide.
And those are the only other two times in the past year that the DS has not been the top selling hardware. If you go back a little further, you hit the Wii and PS3 launches in America and Japan, those would probably beat it too.
