I agree any disc-based system will be defeated by any cartridge based system, the GameCube really is the exception. I'm neither a 'young ass kid' nor a fanboy (but have preference
) and still chose GameCube.
It's nowhere near my favorite system and I actually agree with Jumpin for the most part, but experience shows that if it is anything, it's extremely well built and reliable. My 1982 Atari 2600 and my 1980 Odyssey 2 (Videopac G7000, but the US name is ODY2) both still work perfectly as do all my consoles for that matter, but I wouldn't dare to throw them against the wall.
Case in point, GameCube versus floor: GameCube 1 - Floor 0; massive damage to floorboards, no scratch to GameCube.
