Symmetrical or offset analog sticks?

I'm fine with the analog sticks on both PS3 and Xbox. Which I'm unconfortable with on the Xbox Controller are the bumpers and the main buttons (a b x y). Not because of how their called but because of how they feel like when you press them. They just feel..."wrong". (Yes, I play 99% of the time on a PS3)
