it's not about entitlement, it's about consumer expectations. arguments about free vhs to dvd upgrades are ridiculous, there are obvious and reasonable technical limitations for putting a vhs tape into a disc player. but when nintendo recreates the services and obviously knows that you already purchased the content but then says "too bad, rebuy the same content again" that's BS. if sony launches a services with their recent gaikai acquisition featuring the exact same content i've already purchased on psn but doesn't let me access my content i'd have two words for them, "fuck off". i didn't have to rebuy my apps across the 3 iphones i've owned. netflix didn't surcharge me when they created my iphone app, ps3 app, or vita app. amazon went to far as to give me a digital copy of every CD i every bought from 1998 forward. i have higher standards than this from a software service provider. you should too. |
So you believe that although Nintendo spent many resources creating a better version, they shouldn't be paid for the service. That is what the Wii U version is. It has a number of features including a wide support of the controllers, a save state system, off TV Play and configurable controls. If one doesn't want to pay, they can just settle for the Wii version they already have. Sony's system is simply pure emulation with no enhancements to improve it unless its an actual HD remake. I assume it will be the same if they use Gaikai. Also, all those examples you stated have a secure database with a login system and require you to login before you can access your content. Nintendo didn't put one in for the Wii. They can't use the club nintendo account since not everyone who bought stuff on Wii shop channel made one before making any purchase and they can't use friend codes since you didn't make a password for it. If on their next console, they fail to do this, then there is some legitimacy for complaining.
