My PC is good enough to run many recent games, but I haven't really played games on the platform since the days of Monkey Island 2 and Betrayal at Krondor (with the exceptions of Grim Fandango and The Curse of Monkey Island). I even bought Escape From Monkey Island for PS2 rather than PC. As with some others, I simply enjoy the experience of playing on a console far more than a PC.

This isn't, of course, to say that anyone else should feel this way. Those who suggest that anyone who owns a capable enough PC would always choose the PC version, however, are simply incorrect. I haven't bought a PC game for something like six years.

No one has said that people who have both options will always choose the PC version. Just that the fact that there are PC versions of most major 360 games affects the sales of the console negatively. Especially in places where PC gaming is stronger than console gaming like Germany. That said, what is it about the console experience that you prefer?

I suppose I was referring to this part of one of kingofwale's posts:

"People buy a console for exclusives, and if they can get the game they want in a PC (the truth is, more people own a PC than xbox), they'd just get it for PC. It's the case for me, as I never got used to playing FPS on console"

As for what I prefer about the console experience, I like the fact that the games don't require installation or maintenance and consoles (generally) don't require upgrades; I prefer gamepad controls to keyboard/mouse and local multiplayer is a very important feature to me.  My PC is upstairs in an office and my consoles are downstairs hooked up to a plasma TV and a surround-sound system in a room full of comfortable furniture.  Sure, I can drag the PC downstairs and hook it up to the TV (I even went so far as to swap in a motherboard that supports HDMI-out), but due to the hassle involved I've only done it a couple of times.  Regardless, I'd rather be playing multiplayer games on a system that has a standard, unified control setup than a PC for which every gamepad I've ever bought has ranged from half-decent to wretched.

I suppose another big factor is that most of my favorite games are of Japanese origin, and are generally console-exclusive.

Hates Nomura.
