Nintendo tend to be strategic in who they add to their first party team, Rare are already good at western style approaches and first person while Monolith are the JRPG house of their first party which covers these 3 areas Nintendo in general don't tread on. If they were to buy a studio it would have to be one that specializes in something Nintendo don't really have covered or adds new types of traits to their diversity, imo the following would fall under this:

Platinum Games- They're not only creative and diverse but they specialize in the action genre as well a genre Nintendo doesn't really touch.

Team Ninja- People may in recent times have had a pop at them but like PG they do the action genre but they also do 3d fighters a genre that is practically elusive on Nintendo platforms in general let alone not being covered in their library.

Dimps/Arc System- Smash may be a monster of a game but it's not a traditional 2d fighter something which Dimps and arc pull off well.
