If all the ice melted the Earth would still not be flooded.
The polar ice caps have not existed in Earth's past, likewise, the earth has been completely frozen over at least twice for several thousand millennia in it's history. We really only need to go back about 40-50,000 years ago before the last ice age when the earth was ice free.
What helped to create the last ice age and the polar ice caps was the formation of Central America through tectonic plate action that caused a divide between the Atlantic and Pacific ocean. Prior to that, the oceans were warmer, keeping the polar caps mild to warm.
What will likely happen if Global Warming continues is we'll go through a long series of wild weather patterns of both hot and cold. Which honestly wouldn't be so bad if the precipitation levels were normal. It seems like NA is receiving much less precipitation and Europe is getting more.
