Not quite. Nintendo and Sony had a licensing disagreement, as Sony would've had total control of the SNES-CD disk format and, by extension, total control over what games could be licenesed for the SNES-CD. Ever wonder why Nintendo uses proprietary disk formats instead of, say, DVD or Blu-Ray? This might have something to do with that.
