Even $50 would be way too much, even if they only sold 10m units that is looking at a extra cost of $500m. Is built in backwards compatibility really worth Sony spending half a billion dollars in manufacturing? Adding an extra $50 to the manufacturing cost would mean adding an extra $75 to the unit price unless they want to take a loss.

Streaming legacy PS3 games via Gaiki for PS+ members and/or an optional add-on like thy patented a couple years ago are both much better options.

how about a $100 attachment option (if it has USB in the back) for BC for those who really want it?  That way they make a profit and get plenty of more satisfied customers.  Or just have a separate SKU with BC for $50 or $100 more.

There was a rumor that they were going to offer a flashdrive that had the Cell chip inside for BC, which was supposed to be $99.  I don't know if they would ever do that, but I would eventually get one if they did.

Then, there better be a USB port hidden by a sliding door specifically for that..  I don't wanna see that thing poking out of my console.  And, I better have to register it to my account incase my console gets stolen.  My password is maximum length (40 characters) with a mix of random number, letters, and symbols, and I don't want people stealing.

Besides, with a password like mine, it wouldn't be worth the effort to crack it.  But, I would feel better knowing that if that ever happened, the person can't use it..  I hate DRM, but, that is something I'd like, as long as I wouldn't be forced to sign in too often.
